About

“Word in Silence” is a blog project centered around reading and thinking about Ursula K. Le Guin’s worlds, works, and words. It’s all rather new and may well morph out of control, but for now, I’ll keep it at that.

I owe much to the inspiration of scholars I admire and their blogs, and to a lecture from Signum University.

The name of the blog is a dual reference to Le Guin’s line of poetry from A Wizard of Earthsea: “Only in silence the word” and one of the mottos of the Dominican Order: “Contemplare et contemplata aliis tradere,” or “To contemplate and share the fruits of contemplation.”
